The Department of Health Services Policy and Management (HSPM), Arnold School of Public Health, University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC seeks qualified candidates for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in Health Information Technology. The HSPM Department in collaboration with the Integrated Information Technology (iIT) Program, College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management, will be offering a new Master degree program in Health Information Technology from fall of 2012. This new faculty member will contribute to the degree program by offering two to three courses on applications of technology in the administration of healthcare delivery per year and working collaboratively with iIT faculty to develop a competitively funded research agenda in the health information technology area.
The Arnold School of Public Health is fully accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). The Department is a full Graduate Member of the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA). The Department offers a Master of Public Health degree, a Master of Health Administration degree (accredited by the Commission on Healthcare Management Education), as well as PhD and Doctor of Public Health degrees in Health Services Policy and Management.
Qualifications: PhD in Health Services/Administration or health information systems-related field, a promising record of original research, a commitment to quality teaching, and demonstrated ability to work with a multidisciplinary team are required. Evidence of scholarly or practical experience with using information systems in health services quality improvement; care delivery and operations decision-making; and similar applications will be highly valued. Knowledge of or experience with national-level health information technology-related policy will be valued. Experience in teaching is preferred. Evidence or promise to obtain external funding is required.
Responsibilities: Develop and teach courses related to information systems and its application in health care administration, initiate and develop funded research program and collaborate with colleagues on research activities related to health information management. Develop linkages with local healthcare organizations for training and research purposes. Advise and mentor students and fellows. Perform service to the University, profession, and the community.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
